The topic was so inspiring that I drew six pages of doodles in my sketchbook. I came up with a wide variety of interpretations: fat lip, fat tears, fat cat... I could have easily relied upon my favorite pig character, but that would be a cop-out. It would be too easy for me to rely on him. I decided it had to be something new.
What inspired me the most was the swimsuit season that is currently upon us. The picture I came up with struck me as the funniest and the strongest.
I am having a lot of fun with the texture and paint techniques I'm playing with. I hope that with this experimentation, my personal style will strengthen. (I wish the picture didn't look so orange. She's supposed to look severely sunburned.)
Poor Miriam, apparently she didn't reapply enough sunscreen.
Great picture Dee,
ReplyDeleteShe looks so content just floating in the water catching some rays.

Great job on the topic! Too bad for Miriam...a moment too long in the sun and days of agony to follow!
ReplyDeleteGood job! You have some great work in this blog.
ReplyDeleteFun summer illo!! In time for the happy summer season!! Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteMiriam turned out great! She may not have applied enough sunscreen, but at least she is wearing sun-blocker sunglasses of the most decorative kind. She looks a bit like a floating bee.
ReplyDeleteOooh that's the same swimsuit that I ordered!(I think it's called the 'lady-buoy'.)
ReplyDeleteHi hi, I wonder if those glasses she's wearing will leave two pale stars on her face.
Nicely done Dee!
Lol this made me laugh!!!
ReplyDeleteThis is great! :D
ReplyDeletevery fun, great job.
ReplyDeleteLove this one! The colors are amazing, this illo just jumps out of the screen. It's just perfect.
ReplyDeleteMiriam's a great character! I love her position...she looks blissfully relaxed, but just wait... Great colors and wonderful texture in the background.
ReplyDeleteFabulous! It made me smile so much. I love the whole atmosphere of this.

ReplyDeleteThanks so much for your comments, everyone. I'm having a lot of fun with experimenting.
ReplyDelete*Tropi- I work with a variety of medium: acrylics, colored pencils, pen, with a touch of plaster surfaces and papers.
*Daphne- I was wondering if anyone else would see the resemblence. I thought it was just me, and it was unintentional! haha!
Not sure how I missed this Dee, but it is hilarious, fun and wonderful!!!
