M.I.A.

It's been a while since I've posted. Sorry about that. Apparently, the week of the 5th, my body decided to let me know that I was on the gift-getting end of carpal-tunnel syndrome! Yay me! Tons of fun! (hear the sarcasm people?) I never realized how painful it could be. My entire arm was useless. Never mind that I felt a little dried-up on the creative well...I couldn't even make anything if I wanted to! Fortunately, I talked to my mom, who has had a couple of run-ins with cts, and she gave me some exercises and stretches to keep it away. I've been okay since. I'm still terrified that it will come back with a vengeance and keep me from being able to pursue illustration full-time. (My husband says I should learn to work with my left arm, I'll think about it.)
I was lucky enough to have Spring Break last week, so I able to relax and rest my arm. I visited my parents in San Antonio for a couple of days and that was great. They're putting their house up for sale next month. It's weird, because they have lived in that house since I was in seventh grade. I'm having a hard time imagining them living somewhere else. I will keep my fingers crossed though, because they really want to find some land and live in the country lifestyle.
I also was able to hang out with my best friend, and that was fantastic. We can go awhile without talking, and when we see each other, it's like we were never apart. We decided it was time to get new tattoos! I've been designing several things for some months, but wasn't sure. We went to the tattoo place (Dandyland in San Antonio-top notch) and talked to a fantastic artist, Jedidiah. He helped me narrow down what I wanted, (Less time to do, less money and less pain!) a symbol of freedom and happiness all in one. "One for sorrow, two for joy."

The colors are so gorgeous! The teal wings are my favorite. Oh, and anyone who tells you tattoos don't hurt is a BIG FAT LIAR! My first tattoo (The flowers and butterfly) hurt, but these birdies made me want to cry. The further out Jed went, the more intense the pain was. At one point, I felt pain shoot down my pelvis! But the birds are gorgeous, and I'm very glad I did it.

I thought it was really funny that the I-Fri topic was "tattoo", and I got one? hee!
