I painted this piece for my son's nursery. I had another version of this, but I wasn't too fond of the execution. (It was done a few years ago, when I had picked up the paintbrush and started creating again after a ten year hiatus.) Scroll down to see the original, monochromatic version of this picture.
Hamlet! hahaha! (Shouldn't laugh about this being a vegetarian...)
ReplyDeleteOhhh this is just so sweet. Love it. Love the rendering too :o) I could stay with hamlet all night too, love to watch the stars..
ReplyDeleteOh, what an adorable Hamlet. He sure is thoughful.
ReplyDeleteAwww... i really love the expression on his face... He is really paying attention and hoping to see the comet! What a sweet illustration! :)
ReplyDeleteI truly love both of your paintings! You captured that vulnerable quality that animals have and you did it in a magic way! My favourite this week Dee!
ReplyDeleteVery, very sweet.
ReplyDeleteHamlet was indeed smart for knowing how precious this moment was. TV is worth giving up for most things in my view, but who's to say....Love the colored version. Darling!
ReplyDeleteOhhh, I love his expression!
ReplyDeleteAw tis gorgous, I quite like the subtle colour tones of the first one and his little droopy ears but the sky in the second one is beautiful. They're both lovely
ReplyDeletei like both paintings! lovely.
ReplyDeleteI love these little guys! They have such sweet and adorable expressions! Wonderful!
ReplyDeleteThey're both sweet, but the top one has so much personality! I love the way he;s solidly planted on the hill, looking longingly at the sky. What a lovely painting for your son's nursery!
ReplyDeleteI find this painting very comforting. A perfect piece for your son to look at when he is in his room.

ReplyDeletethanks for the nice comment on my illustration friday piece. :)
BTW - i grew up in Texas --- great place filled with great people.
Beautiful, both pieces! Hamlet looks perky and enthusiastic in the first but I like his quiet pose in the second best. :)
ReplyDeletelovely :o)
ReplyDeleteOh, both paintings are lovely, you've capture such a great moment, and Hamlet is so expressive.
ReplyDeleteI have to say, I just love the the monochromatic version, there's a tenderness there that is truly touching.
Dee these are both wonderful, but I do like the color version the most. I think it has everything: a story you can read visually in so many ways; a style that demostrates your wonderful talents and shows how much you are growing; and all that feel-good warmth and charm I love to see in children's art. Just lovely!
ReplyDeletehow gorgous ! simply wonderful :)
ReplyDeleteI like the cute little pigtail!:)
ReplyDeleteI also really like the droopy weight and the posture of the monochromatic piggie.
Thank you all so much for your kind comments. I haven't been able to participate in I-Fri for a while, and it's great to have such a reception coming back.
ReplyDeleteThanks again!
very endearing character.
ReplyDeleteI especially love the character in the bottom illo. Makes me want to snuggle up next to the little porcine guy and stare at the night sky!
