A Girly Spring?

Here are a few sketches I've completed for Watercolor Wednesday's March prompts. I really am glad to be a part of this group blog, as I can see my progress move steadily forward. I'm much more comfortable with gouache now, and look forward to the fact that sometimes my work seems to actually look better with it. Here's what I did for either "girly" or "spring." I haven't decided yet. Either way, I like the sketch, and am playing with a color sketch so I can figure out the palette. This second sketch could also work for "girly" and "spring," although I might be stretching that. It's just that she's a cowGIRL, and here in Houston the rodeo signifies that Spring is on its way. I'd say that she's springing around on her horsie, but she's actually galloping. I thought about trying to do a more traditional sketch for "girly" but decided since I have never been a girly-girl, I'm not about to reinforce that stereotype. (ha!)

I'll hopefully be posting the finished versions of these this weekend. Next week I will be working at a conference the whole week, so no time for art. After that, my schedule will be wiiide open. (Insert sigh of relief here!)

Oh, one more thing. I'll be needing to add a black and white section to my portfolio when I redo my website this summer. ;) Just one more thing on my to-do list.
