There's a potential for a natural disaster pretty much anywhere you live in the US. (More so in Texas, as we're on the coast and the beginning of Tornado Alley.) The mentality most times is just to be prepared. The upside to hurricane season is that for the most part, you have an idea when they're coming. You have time to prepare (stock up on supplies and hunker down) or evacuate (flee inland). You do get used to it. Even those on the Island whose homes were decimated refuse to leave. They just want to get to the business of rebuilding their lives. I've heard, "It's just another storm." In Europe, we heard about the hurricanes in th US a lot, but as we hardly have anything like that here it's hard to really imagine what it's like to be threatened by severe hurricanes every year. My boyfriend and I saw Spike Lee's documentary on Katrina a while ago and were so impressed. It must be very hard to live with the fear of stuff like that to happen. How do you cope with that? Is there a way to get used to it when you live in an area where hurricanes are frequent? Must be so scary to have to evacuate and not know what you'll find when you come back...Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10176185.post-51736631108119317062008-09-16T11:41:00.000-05:002008-09-16T11:41:00.000-05:00Wow Dee, I hadn't realized that you guys were in t...Wow Dee, I hadn't realized that you guys were in that area.
