W.I.P.-Sep. II

This is what's on my drafting table right now. All of the preliminary sketches and drafts for the Soup Challenge that's due this week. I think you can tell I'm taking a different approach than previous challenges. I really like the comic format, and enjoyed filling up this page.
I actually want to use a different medium to color it in, but I've been working so hard on this, I'm frozen with fear that I will royally mess it up and have to do the whole thing over. Oh well, right? Just do it over if you have to.
Ugh, I really don't want to "have to" because I have at least two other projects pulling at me to work on them. I'd rather get it right the first time.
Enough whining. I'd better get to work!

Hey Dee! This looks amazing, can't wait to see it up close!

Do you ever scan in your line drawings before coloring them in? I've been doing this a lot lately. I'm not quite sure what your process is (the kinds of ink you use, paint, paper etc.) but I'm finding that the computer can be such a great tool to preserving those sketches.

You can print out a bunch of copies on a thicker paper, and practice before the real thing. I do this all the time!

  4. A great suggestion Johanna! I actually do this most times because my line work gets lost when the paint is applied. I hope to get a bigger scanner for Christmas (crossing fingers!)because the sheets I use now are so big.

My other option is to actually learn how to use Photoshop, and apply color digitally. I'm thinking the latter is more likely, but further away from happening.

When I post the final product, I'll tell what happened with my alternate medium. ;P
