Clean, adj.- free from dirt or pollution

I used the most obvious meaning of the word for my entry to this week's Illustration Friday. I've been in a weird place regarding creating art lately, and I'm taking very slow steps back into the fray...trying to stay loose and open; trying not to freak out about putting myself in a box. Hence the black and white...I'm focusing on line and value right now. I'll play with colors later.

The image you see was inspired by my dogs. Whenever they hear water running, they know it's bathtime, and you'd think it was the end of the world! They're too well trained to run and hide, but they act like their lives are over when they're being scrubbed down. You'd think they would appreciate it? Uh, no.

Oh, and why is it when I clean the dogs, I always end up dirtier than when I started?

  1. Hi...nice dog bath! Thank you for the comment on my birdbath. Sorry, but I dont have outlook express, so I couldnt send you a private note. Anyhow, I didn't use paper for the bird bath, its all digital. I have a great program called "Mirage" which is basicly a bitmap based animation program. It does everything, and its awesome. I've used it for animations and motion graphics, but it also works great for illustrating.

  3. Hi Julia! We're in Waco, not Dallas, and it's been good. I've been very busy travelling this summer. It's amazing to me that you're about to be a freshman- you make me feel old! haha! Have fun getting ready to go back to school.

  7. This looks great, Dee! I know what you mean about doggie bath time...I end up filthy, wet, and covered with fur. Keep drawing...don't get stuck! This would look super in color, BTW:>

This is absolute amazing! I love the whole motion, from the bubbles to how the girl pours the water over the dog. The shading is great too :) Love it!

My dog is the same way when it comes to a bath. Of course, she's afraid of just about everything.
