Finding Lucky

I've been remiss in updating this week. I know it's a tired excuse, but seriously, there is mucho insanity at school and home right now.
The point though, is that I was able to go to a concert this past Wednesday. It was Hootie and the Blowfish promoting their new album: Looking for Lucky.
I, along with my husband and a handful of co-workers, decided it would be fun to go. I liked Hootie. Who doesn't like Hootie? It's a little bit of fun and rock all rolled together. Plus, tickets were only twenty-two bucks!
The concert started off well enough, and believe it or not, the entire arena was on their feet for the whole concert. I didn't recognize too many of their newest songs, but they were really good. (I liked "Hey Sister Pretty"especially.) I'm considering buying their newest cd, I liked them so much.
When the band started playing some of their older hits, songs that everyone could sing along with, everyone started having a good time. It was nice when Darius was telling the story of the first time he heard this song, and how it inspired "Let her Cry." I really like knowing the stories behind songs.
What really got me (and the entire audience) singing was when Darius decided to play an old David Allen Coe song, "You Never Even Called Me By My Name." That song, my friends, is a staple song in the Texan college student's repertoire. It is embedded in all Texans' bones. Basically, there is no way you can have gone to college here/grew up here, and not know that song! It was great.
What really blew me away was when they started playing a medley towards the end of the concert. Well, "What's so special about that?" you ask. I'll tell you what. That medley included Lauryn Hill's "That Thing", Snoop's "Gin & Juice", Blackstreet's "No Diggity", and Aerosmith's "Walk this Way." (That curly-haired guy sounds just like Steven Tyler!) I was laughing and singing, dancing and stomping. *sigh* Fantastic entertainment, folks!
Well, I'm off to the movies now to see one of the newest, over-hyped blockbuster hits. I'll let you know how it goes. Oh, and one last image to keep you warm: About four rows ahead of us were two little old ladies wearing glo-light earrings and waving glo-wands! They were serious about their Hootie experience, and weren't afraid to show it! Ta-ta!
